Ilha do Combu

The Combu Island, in Pará, is located 15 minutes from the city of Belém and represents the contrast between urban life and the forest. The island is one of the main destinations for tourists visiting the state of Pará. The sky, which resembles flames of fire, and the Guamá River bleeding are intended to warn about what we are doing about global warming and other climate crises, not only as a country where the Amazon is located, but as human beings, since we are dealing with a global issue.
The island is home to the “ribeirinhos”, who are the indigenous who live on the banks of the Amazon rivers. The social, economic and cultural life of these people is directly linked to the waters of the rivers and nature. In the background, you can see the city of Belém.
Work inspired by the photograph taken on the island by Lina Sena from Oficina de Artes Virtual.
